About

Hi, my name’s Gwen and I’ve committed to making my dream become reality.

I’m working towards creating and hosting a hit show on national television that empowers the Millennial generation to take action to create the life of their dreams.

See… now you understand why the blog is called ‘I realize I’m delusional…’

“Most successful people never dwell on failure, because their belief in themselves is so powerful, and they are so confident they will succeed in the end, that they are almost delusional’

- Robert Herjavec, Co-Star of CBC’s Dragon’s Den and author of Driven

A little about myself:

DEVELOPMENT:
Interned at MTV in Santa Monica for 5 months in the series development department, have pitched show ideas to both MTV & the CBC, developed the concept for “Livin’ the Dream” and produced it with a fantastic team in university (dreamteamproductions.ca). Created/co-hosted “The Real Deal & Meal” (about food & culture in Toronto…that won the first TARA award for Best RUtv show),

HOSTING:
Produced/hosted segments for VJiam.tv (i.e. The Action Movie Workout), hosted an episode of MOD as a contestant for Miss World Canada, interviewed some fabulous Canadian celebs at Toronto Fashion Week, host a vlog called, “Livin’ the Dream” profiling how celebs have made their wildest dreams come true.

10 RANDOM FUN FACTS:

1. I’m ambidextrous

2. I ran a half marathon last year. This somehow gave me the confidence to sign up for a Marathon this October. Biggest challenge yet!

3. I was super afraid of heights… until I went to the Grand Canyon.

4. I won the Miss Charity award for Miss World Canada 2009

5. I want to do an act of philanthropy on every continent (so far I’ve helped out on three…including a volunteer trip to Ecuador with Free the Children)

6. I used to enter a lot of contests (i.e. S-Trip World Intern Contest, MuchMusic VJ Search, Miss World Canada, RU Ryerson Video Contest, and a bunch of random contests online…) but I simply don’t win them. I take this as a sign that I’m meant to create the dream, not win it.

7. So this one time I decided to cut off 11 inches of my hair to donate to the Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths organization to make wigs for cancer patients. This was scary for me because my long blonde hair has always been the thing people compliment me on….so cutting it off definitely made me feel pretty self conscious… but the truth is I was able to overcome that incredibly fast as I realized how someone else who’s suffering from cancer would love to have my hair as a wig more than I would ever appreciate it (if that makes sense?)

8. I’m a blogger for Kidult.com. I attended the first Kidult conference in NY this summer and am a true believer in this organization & the people I met at teh event.

9. I really love going to conferences… I always meet the coolest people at these events. I also love being surrounded by people excited about life, and committed to growing as a person to take their lives to the next level.

10. Mexican food is hands down my fave. It reminds me of hanging out in California and the amazing memories I had while I was there!

okayy let’s go for 11.

11. I freakin’ love you for being interested enough to read these!! heehee :D

    Hi Gwen,
I enjoyed your blogs and video excerpt from 60 minutes. I don’t think you are “delusional” but appreciate your humility. I am a baby boomer and wonder if I am “delusional.” I think it is exciting for you to approach life as a Millennial this way (especially your altruistic actions of philanthropy). I pray your DREAMS come true and please pray that my “delusional dream” changes to a “real dream.” I believe it can happen at any age….what a person can do in a short period of time is remarkable. Hope you will pray for me also. God bless you! You give me hope that maybe I am not delusional!
